What is the Long Term Effectiveness Using Minoxidil
as used in Rogaine®
(Rogain) for Hairloss or Hair Growth?
|
|
Clinical
studies by the makers of Rogaine® (the first hair loss treatment to
use the drug Minoxidil) have shown that only about 1 out
of 4 men and about 1 out of 5 women
will experience re-growth of their hair, and then it is only very moderate
regrowth. And those that do see such limited growth, must continue to use
the Minoxidil product on-going, or their hair will fall back out again
within three to four months after stopping usage of it.
According to the FDA
Drug Facts Guidance for Industry (click on this link, then
scroll down to page 2 -
Other Information), the reported percentages of success in hair re-growth
in using Minoxidil, based on clinical studies is:
- 26% of the men reported moderate
to dense re-growth and 33% had minimal re-growth; this was after four months of
use.
- 19% of the women reported only
moderate re-growth and 40% had minimal re-growth; this was after eight months of
use.

Results:
"The results of this pilot study (using HairGenesis™ Soft

Scientists and researchers generally agree that DHT
(Di-Hydro Testosterone) is the primary cause of thinning hair and
pattern hair loss in both men and women. Continue reading below to find out
which product would be a better choice for you to help stop and reverse the effects
of your thinning hair or pattern hair loss.
Learn more about hair
growth stages and normal
hair growth and how the metabolism or formation of DHT inside the
body and on the scalp can cause your hair to get thinner and shorter over time
and also cause you to lose your hair altogether.

Overall, HairGenesis™ is a better
hairloss treatment than Rogaine®.

Top -

Research conducted so far on HairGenesis™
shows that it is
not limited to working on just one small area of
the scalp like Rogaine®
(and Minoxidil) is. |

Frontal

It specifically states that Rogaine®
(Rogain) or Minoxidil is NOT
intended for frontal baldness or
a receding hairline. |

Thus, according to the makers of Rogaine®

(Rogain) or Minoxidil may not work for
you at all.

Minoxidil, as used in Rogaine®
(Rogain) must be used twice a day, every day
|
|
According
to clinical studies by Rogaine®, Minoxidil must be used twice a day,
every day, continuously. It works better on those who are younger and
whose hair loss is recent, according to clinical studies by Pharmacia and
Upjohn.
Clinical studies on Minoxidil
also show that if you ever stop using it, your hair will soon fall
out again (often within 3 to 4 months or even sooner) and you
will look as if you had never used it. (for example, click on the "fall out"
link above and scroll down to "How long do I have to use Women's
Rogaine®?")
A potential Rogaine® user contacted rogaine.com web site by email. This
is the actual reply to the customer's question about the necessity of
continuing to use Minoxidil (for the rest of one's life):
"Continued use of all Rogaine®
(Minoxidil)
formulas is needed to maintain hair regrowth. If
you stop using Rogain (Minoxidil), the
normal hair loss process will start again. You will
probably lose your newly regrown hair within 3 to 4 months
and will look the way you would have looked if you had
never used Rogaine®. Just remember your results and
success depends on proper application of Rogain twice a
day, every day, directly to the scalp."
|
|
|
What you should know about Rogaine®
(Rogain) or Minoxidil
|
-
works only on the top (vertex) of the scalp (as shown above)
-
generally works for a limited period of
time
-
uses the drug Minoxidil (a drug originally intended for high blood
pressure, not hairloss)
-
Minoxidil is not known to stop or block the degenerative effects
of the hormones DHT
or the enzyme 5AR
on the hair follicles or hair roots
-
while Minoxidil may temporarily
stimulate hair growth by some other mechanism, it may not prevent the hair follicles
from their eventual deterioration by DHT
anyway
-
has multiple potential
side effects

|
Things to note about Rogaine®
(Rogain) or Minoxidil
|
-
do not use if your amount of hair loss is different (or more)
than
that shown in the pictures on the side of the carton (see above)
-
do not use if your hair loss is on the FRONT of the scalp
-
do not use if your hair loss is on the BACK of the scalp
-
stop using if you see no results after 4 months
-
is generally ineffective unless applied twice a day regularly
-
generally only regrows hair in a minority of men (about 26%) and
women (about 19%).
-
continued use (twice a day) is necessary to keep any hair
regrowth you may have seen or hair loss will begin again (and you will
lose all of the
hair you may have grown back within 2 to 4 months)
-
maximum hair regrowth has not been shown to continue longer than 48
weeks
-
even after 48 weeks of usage, continued use (twice a day) is
still necessary to keep any hair that has grown back or hair
loss will begin again

|
The Importance of Using both Oral and Topical hair loss
treatment products
|
|
Research suggests that scalp hair may respond
better to a hairloss treatment therapy which combines an oral
product and a topical regimen.
HairGenesis™ represents the first and only non-drug based
treatment to use this approach which has been successfully tested
under FDA Regulated, IRB Monitored, Placebo-Controlled,
Double-Blind Clinical Testing with results published in a
peer-reviewed journal.
Research suggests that DHT is synthesized not only internally in the body, but also on
the scalp. That's why it is necessary to use a hairloss treatment system that
includes both oral and topical products which block and stop the effects
of DHT both internally and topically. This is one reason why
HairGenesis™ is more effective than other hair loss treatment
products.
You may order individual products (Oral Soft Gels, Shampoo, Topical
Activator). You'll save more money when you order a complete
HairGenesis™
Best Value Pack. A
value pack also includes Revitalizing Shampoo with DHT Blockers and
Topical Activator with DHT Blockers. Combining the Shampoo and Topical
Activator with the Oral Soft Gel DHT Blockers is a more effective treatment
overall.
The Oral Soft Gel DHT Blockers contain DHT blocking ingredients which
are believed to block
the activity of both types of the 5AR enzyme (Type 1 and Type 2).
Recall that it is the enzyme 5AR
which
converts Testostrerone into the problematic hormone Di Hydro
Testostrerone ( DHT
). DHT is the hormone proven to trigger the onset and progression
of common or pattern hair
loss in a man or woman.
The Shampoo and Topical Activator both contain DHT Blocking
ingredients. The Shampoo helps remove DHT and other factors which
may damage scalp hair and hair roots, as well
as providing DHT blocking ingredients to protect your weakened hair
follicles. The Topical Activator further helps protect your
hair follicles on the inside from the harmful effects of DHT and
is believed to help stimulate them for optimal growth.
